Installation instructions for Advanced Website Creator (AWC) ------------------------------------------------------------ WARNING: PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS THE WINDOWS VERSION OF THE AWC INSTALLER. IT WILL NOT WORK UNDER LINUX. IF YOU NEED TO INSTALL AWC ON LINUX, YOU MUST DOWNLOAD THE LINUX INSTALLER FROM http://www.awcreator.com/ If you meet any problems with this installation, please report them to info@awcreator.com In order to start using AWC you need to perform the following steps: ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1. Run the AWC installer. During installation you will be prompted for a directory where to install the AWC files. We recommend using "C:\Program Files\Advanced Website Creator" (without the double quotes) but you can choose any directory you want. 2. After the installation is complete, double-click on the AWC icon or run AWC from the Start menu. This will activate the AWC monitor which allows you to start/stop the AWC database and web servers. 3. After the AWC monitor is activated, double-click on its tray icon in order to open the AWC monitor window, then click on [Start] button. This will start the AWC servers and will start your default browser, navigating it to the AWC user login area. 4. Login as an AWC user with the default user credentials: username: user password: user After the login you can start work on AWC projects ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you ever need to add more AWC users or adjust the AWC settings, please visit the AWC admin area at http://127.0.0.1:8080/admin You can login as an administrator, using the following credentials: username: admin password: admin WARNING: PLEASE USE http://127.0.0.1:8080/ TO ACCESS THE AWC INSTALLATION. AVOID USING http://localhost:8080/ BECAUSE MOST BROWSERS ARE NOT ABLE TO SET COOKIES CORRECTLY FOR THE "LOCALHOST" DOMAIN AND YOU MAY BE UNABLE TO LOGIN INTO THE AWC ADMIN AND USER AREAS. The AWC installation comes with support for MySQL, PostgreSQL and SQLite as database backends. It also comes with the PostgreSQL and SQLite database engines installed with the rest of the AWC files. Due to licensing restrictions the MySQL database engine is not bundled with AWC. If you want to develop websites using the MySQL database backend, you will have to manually install the MySQL server on your machine and then configure AWC to use the installed MySQL server.
